Dr. David Calkins is a board certified anesthesiologist who specializes in pain management.  He practices at Sunrise Medical Group in Santa Rosa, New Mexico and is affiliated with Guadalupe County Hospital. He received his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years. He is highly trained and skilled at relieving severe pain.

"Many of us have our lives stolen from us by unnecessary pain and suffering. I, myself, have had many occasions in the Army and in the Navy, to experience constant severe pain. It steals your ability to enjoy and sometimes to even participate in life. Fortunately, the same doctors that relieved my pain, taught me the skills and techniques to apply the latest technology to my patients’ pain.

My ambition is to relieve as much pain in our patients, as possible. Most of what I do involves interventions, rather than prescriptions. I try to identify the source of your pain and then reduce it or completely erase it for as long as possible. By doing so, we can give you, our patients, increased enjoyment and help you return to your jobs, family life and recreation.

If you wish to have less pain and more life, I am a good choice.  The sooner we see you, the sooner you can be with your friends and family and get back to work, play and other activities.  It is a joy, an honor and a privilege to assist others, the way I have been assisted.  Life is too short to live in pain.” Dr. Calkins.

Dr. Calkins speaks multiple languages, including Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin), German and Russian.
